⛳️Endangered golf club: Routenburg Golf Course friendly to overseas golfers.

Updated: May 29, 2022

The master who has to make my club and see the swing runs a Hummingbird Sporte (HBS) shop in Oyabe, Yokosuka.

Agony had already been going on for six years.

one day I told my teacher, "I want to stop using this club."

The answer returned was, "Youcan't go back anymore."

At around 17:30 on August 8, 2018, I was working in Kashiwazaki, Niigata, and was heading home via Tokyo on the Shinkansen.

The departure to Irvine, Scotland, was imminent from the next day.

During the past week, I have been checking typhoon information on my iPhone many times.

My house is located at the southern tip of the Miura Peninsula, an hour by train south of Tokyo.

It is a 3-minute walk to the coast at the entrance of Tokyo Bay.

The plane is scheduled to depart Tokyo in the morning of the 9th, the next day in Japan time.

I checked this screen many times with the feeling of praying on the Shinkansen.

Still, if I believed in this weather information, I thought the flight on the 9th would be okay.

The typhoon's centre was expected to pass through the east side of my house, so that was the only salvation.

In 2021, a large typhoon passed west of this course.

The roof tiles of my house flew, the plants' greenhouse collapsed, and the damage was significant.

An object hit my car, and it caused a big scratch.

As expected, 2018 wasn't a big deal, and I could fly to Scotland as planned.

Go to Glasgow via Heathrow.

Harbor Light wasn't available for the first two nights, and J booked The Harbor Guesthouse.

It was a guest house in a row of Harbor Light.

The room was a little small, but there was no problem by Japanese standards at all. It was beautiful and comfortable.

The staff was resident, and it was a sound system.

When I came to Irvine in 2015, I stayed at Gales House, but this time I was introduced to a hotel facing the harbour, and I think I was able to enjoy the atmosphere of Irvine even more strongly.

The next day, J set up Routenburn Golf Club, Largs.

Golfers were still in agony, but sometimes they started to score in their 80s, and since 2015, they have been in agreement with the fainting club.

For those of you reading this blog for the first time, here is a brief introduction to the Agony Club.

The club is a particular club with a smooth shaft and a heavy clubhead.

It will not move if you swing the pendulum like a general club.

If the grip goes beyond the ball's position first, it will move smoothly, and you can feel the clubhead pushing from behind.

If you shake it like a pendulum, the clubface will open and become heavier as with any golf club.

There is a reason why modern golf clubs on the market are light.

Even if the face opens, it is lighter to be shaken by human power.

Routenburn was an all-sloping golf course on a hill overlooking the sea. Even if I dropped the ball on the fairway, many holes would roll to the rough on the seaside, so it wasn't an easy course.

When I paid at the clubhouse, I was charged £ 2.5, and I doubted my ears. However, J explained that it was a "foreigner's fee" when I asked again. He was impressed with how kind he was to foreigners.

Foreigners are charged a reasonably high price at most golf courses, including St Andrews.

After the play was over, J showed me around the nearby seaside town of Largs. It was a beautiful town.

Email thanks to J.

I appreciate your kindness, J.

I like Routenburn Golf Club.

It’s not such an easy course, but I enjoyed it very much.

This time is the 3rd visit to your town for me.

You also introduced me to splendid and very familiar accommodations.

I’m happy to meet you and also your lovely family.

I can’t have had a wonderful experience without you.

Thank you, my wee friend.

On the 16th, I heard that I would be playing the Robert the Bruce course in Turnberry. While travelling, I am steadily solidifying my travel plans.

Dear Mr Yamada

Thank you for your email.

At the time of writing we have no availability on the Ailsa Course on the morning of 16th August.

I am however able to offer you a tee time on the King Robert the Bruce course at 07:33, 16th August which would allow you to depart in time for your flight. The cost per round is £100.00.

If you can advise if this is suitable for you, I will confirm the reservation.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Leanne
